Monika Mann was already an Instagram user in November when she started making candles, so she posted pictures of them on the social network as a matter of course.
“Literally overnight, I had 178 messages from people I don’t know about these candles,” says Ms. Mann, who lives in Toronto. “I had absolutely no idea what I was doing but was like, ‘I am going to roll with it. It will be great.’”

Hi, hello! I’m Monika Mann, a candle maker driven to make you and your space feel good!
I have been obsessed with home decor and creating ambiance wherever I go for as long as I can remember. Life is a constant wave and I think we deserve to make ourselves feel good + celebrate the everyday.
I started making candles for myself during the pandemic as a way to aid my crippling stress and anxiety. I think (like many of us) the pandemic really highlighted things (+ people) in my life that were no longer serving me and I really had to face it head on.
As I made these beautiful candles, I couldn’t help but see the humanness in them. Striving to look perfect/on display. The candles are 100% natural just like all of us, they reflect back our humanness in a beautiful + authentic way. Perfectly imperfect ~ made with love and authenticity. Each one being unique, some of them melt weird, sometimes they develop a little frost, sometimes the color is a little bit more unique than others. But they are honest.
If the pandemic taught me anything ~ it's that our world can shift and change so quickly. So let's live! I always knew I wanted to create something for myself, so I took my dream and worked extremely hard to make it a reality. If I fail, at least I took a chance on myself which I think no matter what…is automatically a success. Always bet on yourself.
